Important update: Philippines GST requirement (PH_GST_2026)
Announcement • Last updated: 2026-03-27
Summary: A new Philippines tax requirement (PH_GST_2026) may pause some cross‑border transfers to the Philippines until proof of merchant tax remittance is provided. Below is what to expect and the fastest way to resume a paused transfer.
What changed
- Certain transfers into the Philippines are paused if they meet local thresholds until tax remittance is proven.
- You’ll see a clear “on hold” message in the transaction thread explaining the next steps.
- Verified and VIP accounts have a faster path to resolution when proof is available.
What we need to resume a transfer
Please ask the merchant to provide one of the following:
- BIR tax payment receipt showing merchant name and TIN (tax ID), payment reference and date
- Bank remittance confirmation referencing payment to a Philippine tax authority
- Certificate of Tax Withholding or equivalent official confirmation
How to upload
Accepted file types: PDF, JPG, PNG. In the upload note include: T‑<transaction_id> — remittance proof. We typically verify documents within 24 hours of receipt.
Quick options
- Request proof: Ask the merchant to upload the document to the transaction thread.
- VIP review: Verified/VIP customers can request priority manual handling — reply “VIP review.”
- Refund: If you prefer not to wait, request a refund via the transaction thread.
Sample message to send your merchant
Hi [Merchant], our payment (T‑[id]) is paused due to a Philippines tax rule. Please provide a BIR tax receipt or bank remittance confirmation and include “T‑[id] — remittance proof” in the upload. PDF/JPG/PNG are fine. Thanks!
